VCenter 5.1 to 5.5 U1 Custom Upgrade with SRM and Linked Mode (Part 4 Vcenter Service)

The last piece for the Vcenter upgrade will be the Vcenter Service.

1.  Launch the installer for Vcenter Service on your Vcenter server.

2.  Installer should find a previous version of the installer. Vcenter_3

3.  Accept the EULAVcenter_4

4.  Enter your Vcenter license key.Vcenter_5

5.  Enter the credentials for your Vcenter database.Vcenter_6

6.  It will warn that VUM will not be compatible, but dont’ worry we will get to that next.Vcenter_7

7.  Choose the upgrade option and check the database backup box.  Be sure to take a backup per the steps outlined in my overiew page.

8.  Choose to either upgrade the host agents automatically or have it done manually.  I have always chosen automatic and have not had any issues.Vcenter_9

9.  Enter your service account if you run Vcenter under a username or run as a windows account.Vcenter_10

10. Change ports if needed.Vcenter_11

11.  Set the JVM size based on your environment.Vcenter_12

12.  Enter your SSO server and credentials.

13.  Accept the certificate.

14.  Set the folder location.Vcenter_15

15. Begin installation.Vcenter_16 Vcenter_17

16.  Installation is complete.Vcenter_18

From here I reboot SQL, SSO, Inventory, Vcenter servers in that order if you have them separate and then we will upgrade Vmware Update manager.
