VCenter 5.1 to 5.5 U1 Custom Upgrade with SRM and Linked Mode (Part 5 VUM)

Part 5 we will update Vmware update manager.

1.  Stop the VUM service.  I have encountered the error below during installation if you don’t stop VUM first.

2.  Start the VUM installer and it will ask if you want to upgrade hit ok.

3.  Accept EULA. vum_3

4.  Vm guest baselines will be gone, any host upgrade baselines, and 3.5 patches will be removed.  I uncheck the box to download updates right away because they can take a while.  vum_4

5.  Enter your Vcenter server information and the account used for permissions.

6.  Enter the database credentials.vum_6

7. Choose to upgrade the database.vum_7

8.  I connect by FQDN which should be in the dropdown instead of IP.  This is the FQDN of your update manager server.vum_8

10.  Install the sofware.vum_9

11. Installation should be complete and Vcenter is fully upgraded at one site.

Next step is to do SRM at the primary site!
